The South East Scotland committee of St John Scotland held a successful fundraising ball earlier this month, raising more than £4,000 to support our life-saving projects.
The ball was timed to coincide with the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War, to recognise the sacrifice of those who served in the conflict. A proportion of the proceeds are to be shared with a services charity.
The ball proved to be a glittering social occasion. It was held at Kelso's Springwood Hall, with guests enjoying dinner, and entertainment into the wee hours.
The evening saw an array of fantastic raffle prizes on offer, including return flights from Edinburgh to Dubai, which prompted guests to raise thousands on the night.
Locally in the South East, St John Scotland supports the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team, and recently opened the team’s new headquarters in Melrose after making a large donation towards the base’s refurbishment.
