Celebrating 50 Years of Service in Perth & Kinross

Publication date 10 December 2025

On 7 December, our Perth & Kinross committee hosted the third event in their 50th Anniversary celebrations: a beautifully attended Carol Service at St John’s Kirk, Perth.

The evening included the presentation of a cheque from Honorary President Janice Webster to the Prior, supporting the ongoing work of the St John Eye Hospital Group. The Prior also shared an update on the Hospital Group’s vital work and read a special message from the CEO of St John Western Australia, who grew up in Dumfries:

“From one Perth to another, congratulations on 50 years of care in Perth and Kinross. As a boy growing up in Scotland across the lowlands and highlands, service shaped me — from volunteering with the Garda Síochána to now at St John WA donning ambulance greens. Our namesake cities connect us, but it’s our shared mission that binds us. Here’s to the next remarkable half-century. Lang may yer lum reek.”

Later in the evening, the Lord Lieutenant, Stephen Leckie, offered a toast recognising the impact that St John Scotland Perth & Kinross continues to have across the local community.

To close the event, Janice Webster was presented with a bouquet of flowers in thanks for her leadership throughout the 50th Anniversary programme, alongside the dedicated organising team of Robin Webster, Sue Strudwick, and Hilary Mackenzie.
