Members gather for Torphichen service

Last weekend saw members of the Order of St John from around Scotland gather at the Torphichen Preceptory for the annual service.

The service was conducted by the Rev Bill Paterson, CStJ, and the preacher was the Dean of St John Scotland, the Very Rev Dr John Cairns, KCVO, LTh, LLB, DD, LLD, CStJ.

The lessons were read by Keith Stirling, Chair of St John Scotland West Lothian, and the Prior of Scotland, Major General Mark Strudwick. The anthem was sung by St Columba's Episcopal Church Choir.

A collection was taken in aid of the St John Eye Hospital Group in Jerusalem, and raised £475 - this was topped up to £2,000 by the St John Scotland West Lothian Area, and the cheque was presented to the Hospitaller, Dr John Ferguson-Smith at the Torphichen Inn afterwards.
